precision and musician-focused design sets this product apart. Made from nickel-plated aluminum,
the Ax Clamp is fully adjustable and compatible with all Instrument Innovations Ax Handle and Side Balancer kits. Installation is
simple—no technician required—and once secured, the set screw holds the brace rod for the Ax Handle or Side Balancer solidly in place for consistent,
worry-free use.

TromboneLAB’s Take
Why we like it:
I use both the Ax Handle and the Side Balancer on my own horn every day, and the Ax Clamp is the foundation that makes both of them shine. It gives me the versatility and stability I need to dial in the perfect ergonomic setup, no matter what I’m playing.
What I love most is how adjustable and secure it is. I can always find that perfect “sweet spot” where the horn just locks into place and feels like it was built around me. And if I want to shift something even slightly, a quick turn of a screw is all it takes. It’s comfortable, solid, and beautifully made—clean, polished, and refined in every detail. Mike Olsen really knows how to bring form and function together in a way that makes complete sense for players.
I love it, and I really think you will too!
